Attritors are vertical milling machines which use larger sized grinding media. They are a batch process machine. These machines are excellent for dispersing pigments which require higher energy input for grinding such as phthalocyanine blue and carbon blacks.
A three roll mill or triple roll mill is a machine that uses shear force created by three horizontally positioned rolls rotating in opposite directions and different speeds relative to each other, in order to mix, refine, disperse, or homogenize viscous materials fed into it.
A ball mill is a type of size reduction machine used to grind and blend materials for use in mineral dressing processes, paints, pyrotechnics, ceramics.
Sand mills are vertical bead mills which are used for particle size reduction and dispersing of pigments in liquids in the paint, ink & coating industries.
Bead Mills are designed for dispersion processing, where solid particles (pigments, fillers) are reduced in size and finely dispersed and wetted out in a liquid phase.
Basket Mills are used in any field which requires the grinding and crushing of low-viscous and/or semi-viscous products, especially paint, varnish, pigment paste, ink and miscellaneous cosmetic materials.
Horizontal Mills are high energy / high efficiency mills designed for dispersion and fine wet grinding. These are suitable for use in Chemical, agrochemical, pigments, paints, coatings, inks and mineral grinding processes. These mills provided much higher efficiency than sandmills, attritors, vertical bead mills.
Triple-shaft mixers are universally applicable for viscosities of up to approximately 2,000,000 mPas. Their great advantage lies in the ability to manufacture products with a very high viscosity and poor flow characteristics. Due to the high viscosity of many of the products produced in this design, the slow speed mixing impeller functions not only as a pump, moving the mass into the high speed dispersing blade, but also as a dispersing blade itself.
Twin shaft mixers are available in multiple configurations depending on the process requirements. Coaxial configurations offer center aligned dispersion shafts with scrapper blades of different configurations. Hybrid twin shaft mixers can be provided with off centered dispersion shafts and screw type shaft or scrapper shafts. The blade configurations can be single or double. The scrappers can be single arm, multi arm. These mixers offer improved dispersion and reduced process times.
Abigail’s Single shaft dissolvers also known as high speed dissolvers / dispersers are designed for premixing, dispersion and end-mixing applications. They are typically used in low-medium viscosity applications. These are used to mix solids into a liquid. They provide good homogenizing and dispersion at a low consumption of power. Specialized blades impart shear force that breaks and separates particles to achieve a uniform distribution.
