Attritors are vertical milling machines which use larger sized grinding media. They are a batch process machine. These machines are excellent for dispersing pigments which require higher energy input for grinding such as phthalocyanine blue and carbon blacks. Grinding media of size 6 mm to 12 mm can be used on these machines. The shell of the machine has a bottom discharge point which is connected to a pump. During the grinding stage this pump serves as a mixing pump and after processing the pump serves as a discharge pump. The shells are jacketed for enhanced cooling.
